1. Who we are

BillSorted is an Australian software business. We provide recurring bill, reminder, document, and record-keeping software for Australians. When we say "we", "us", or "BillSorted", we mean the BillSorted service and business.

2. What data we collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide the service:

  • Account data — your email address and display name when you sign up.
  • Asset, bill, and payment data — the assets, bills, documents, payments, and related records you create for home, investment property, vehicle, personal, or similar admin use.
  • Preferences — notification settings and app preferences you configure.
  • Usage data — basic analytics to understand how the app is used (page views, feature usage). No personal identifiers are attached.

3. How we use your data

We use your data to:

  • Operate and deliver the BillSorted service.
  • Send you bill reminders and payment confirmations (if enabled).
  • Improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns.
  • Respond to support requests.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data storage & security

Your data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS infrastructure in Australia where available). All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest. Access to your data is enforced at the database level using row-level security — no other user can access your records.

We perform automated daily backups. In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you within 72 hours as required by the Australian Privacy Act 1988.

5. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you.
  • Export — download your data as CSV at any time from within the app.
  • Correction — update or correct your data at any time.
  • Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data. We will action this within 30 days.

6. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel, we retain your data for 30 days to allow account recovery, then securely delete it. You can request immediate deletion by contacting us.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
